How About Both?

Happy September! I know the first day of fall is about three weeks away, but really?!?! It's only three weeks away?!? I always think of September 1 as the beginning of autumn and the end of summer. I honor the Solstices as well as the Equinoxes and I admit, I'm heavily influenced by the first of some months! However, you view the change of seasons, always look for the joy and contentment and go with the flow

This week, in The Seed, I asked a question:

"Tell me something ... Are you looking for short-term gain or long-term benefits and rewards? Your actions will dictate one or the other."

You might have thought I was looking for the "right" answer. The truth is, sometimes we want one and other times, the other. Either way, you can figure out how to go after what you want. Let's say you're looking for a treat -- something to enjoy in the moment, a little gift for yourself. You might be in the mood for a cupcake. You can go through the effort of baking a dozen or two or you can go to the pastry shop and pick one or two out. The first action will take some time and labor and will yield enough cupcakes for several days of goodies or a day you can share with lots of friends. The second action could be a simple walk or drive to pick up the sweet tidbit and simply indulge. If you want to move around and put your body in motion after sitting for a while, all you have to do is put on some sneakers and go out for a walk. However, if you want to create an exercise program for yourself it might mean:

  • looking online for workout videos

  • finding out what you need and getting some equipment

  • figuring out where you can easily set up for your activity in your home

  • talking to friends about what they do

  • checking out local gyms and studios

By now you've got the picture, right? The more you invest in something or the bigger result you want, the more effort you need to put into it. It all depends on what you want. Sometimes we just want something that's short and sweet and other times we're ready to take on a bigger project. Just remember, whatever action you take will dictate your outcome. Do something quick and easy and enjoy a little satisfying pampering. Make a grander gesture with more planning and effort and you can create a lifestyle. All of it -- this is what I wish for you, Wondering how to tackle the little as well as the big things in life? Hit me up in an email -- we can set up time for a complementary Discovery Session. Who knows what we'll uncover?!
