Flaws and All

I've been sending out some form of a "newsletter" for at least seven or eight years. As I've looked back in the archives I find myself chuckling at what I used to call it. This is a short list of some of the titles:

The Weekly Sexy Living Tip

Barbara's Luscious Thoughts

Laugh Tip

Pinch of Pleasure

Pleasure Point/Pleasure Peek

And currently it's known as On the Way (out on Thursdays) with an introductory MQ (Monday Quote), although that could change any day, LOL!

Some of you have been with me since the beginning and I am so grateful for your spending time with me each week that my quotes and blogette go out. Early on I would usually post a quote or saying from someone well-known or famous. It would be something that got my attention or inspired me or that contributed to my personal evolution and I would comment on its significance to me. Over time, I realized I had a lot of thoughts about life, especially during some of my long drives in the car, and I tentatively began creating and sharing my own, personal observations. This week's MQ sums up what's behind what I do:

"I don't offer advice because I'm perfect.

In fact, it's just the opposite. I'm so freakin' flawed,

I just hope I can channel some of my hard-earned lessons

and the wisdom I've gratefully received to get me through.

Then, it's time to pass it along."

I used to worry that what I wrote wasn't enough, wasn't perfect, wasn't helpful, and wasn't universal. I was afraid I'd say something stupid, offensive, ridiculous, or worthless. I wanted to be clever all the time and I wanted everyone to get something from what I wrote. It's a wonder I had the guts to keep writing week after week and year after year. My ego made fun of me while my soul kept me going and that's one of the biggest understandings I've finally taken in, especially in the last couple of years. I know I've said it before, in one form or another, but it's too important not to repeat:

"When we can quiet the frantic screaming of the ego and allow the whisper of the soul to come forward,

we're in good shape."

I think this is what any and all of us do. We participate in life and then we help each other out with what we learn on the way. I like to write and that's one of the ways I offer up what I figure out. I also love getting together in groups or having salons or retreats for a few days of soul sharing. This past weekend I spent two full, amazing days with a group of women who have all studied at Mama Gena's School of Womanly Arts. The level of loving acceptance we have for each other is phenomenal, flaws and all. I highly recommend finding your tribe, gang, flock or posse, perhaps even more than one. Find somewhere where you can be yourself, expose your glitches, blemishes, and imperfections, listen to your soul, and support each other. This is what I think life is all about. This is what I wish for you.

Sparkles and Love,
