It's Like This...Wonderland

It's Thanksgiving in the USA today. Everyday is a chance to be grateful and today is an opportunity to let the collective consciousness get a boost. I hope you are having exactly the day you want. It's also a perfect day to say a little more about my Monday Comment from this week.

"You don't have to be Alice to find a Wonderland!"

I'm in southern California today, enjoying a fine Thanksgiving with special friends. I finished up my month plus with my daughter in the Pacific Northwest a couple of days ago and I also just returned from Australia. I definitely have found some "Wonderlands" over the last couple of months. Remember, though, while Alice had some delightful adventures, it wasn't all roses and lollipops. She met a Mad Hatter, March Hare and Dormouse who had riddles with no answers. The Queen of Hearts shouted "Off with her head" for being too tall and at other times Alice either ate or drank things that made her very small.

It's like this ... sometimes we will have fantastic journeys. They might be punctuated by delayed schedules or an occasional unpleasant person. We can even imagine we've fallen down a rabbit hole when a plan really doesn't turn out the way we had hoped. We might feel literally upside down as I did traveling from the northern to southern hemisphere, "losing" a whole day to get "down under" and, then, leaving Sydney at 11:30am on a Sunday and arriving in Los Angeles at 6:30am on the same Sunday!

In the end, in spite of glitches or unexpected challenges, we can choose to see the unexpected or unfamiliar as fascinating. As Lewis Caroll wrote, "Imagination is the only weapon in the war against reality". We have the amazing ability to go beyond "facts" and create something better. Wonderland is what you make of anywhere.
