Don't Quit!
Welcome to Happy, Healthy Hump Day! I also call it The Care since I've started sending out The Seed (a little food for thought) every other Monday, The Bloom (a deeper dive into that thought) every other Thursday, and The Care every other Wednesday in between. My focus is helping us all get a little more healthy which I've found keeps us happier, too.
This week I was inspired by something I heard on a webinar. I love being struck by inspiration, don't you?!? The speaker said that her grandmother told her:
"Quitters never win and Winners never Quit!"
When I looked up this wise piece of advice, I found it was attributed to Vince Lombardi, an American football coach. Google stated, "Because of his success, he became a national symbol of single-minded
determination to win." Through her grandmother's words and her own resolve, the woman I heard speak told the story of winning her first swim meet after years of coming in nearly last. Have you ever been tempted to quit? When it comes to our health it sometimes feels easier to just drop out. We might want to eat better, give up sugar, exercise or go for a walk, go to bed and wake up earlier, stop smoking ... the list could go on and on. It's easy to blame others and our circumstances for throwing in the towel, but in the end, we have to be responsible for following through. That doesn't mean it's always easy and it's particularly
challenging when we try to do it alone. Here are some suggestions for going for the win:
Decide what you really want in order to be more healthy and happy and also, figure out the "why"
Get your brain in alignment with your dreams, imagine something you want coming true and feel it in your body
Find a friend (or 2 or 3) who have some similar goals and discuss your "why's" with each other
Get excited about winning
Say YES to being bigger than your fears, self-doubt, and whatever else has been holding you back
Make a pact that you won't quit
Remember, keep it simple and start small and easy. Celebrate all the wins along the way to being a Winner!
Getting together with friends is awesome, but if you want a "little more" help with getting back on track, shoot me an email. We'll have a chat!
As always, be care-full.
