Healthy Habit Hump Day - Food or Pharmaceutical?
Do you think about the food you eat or do you pretty much choose what you like? Have you ever eaten something and not felt very good or had indigestion after? Or have you overeaten and felt really uncomfortable for a few hours? It's pretty easy to make that kind of a connection between food and your discomfort, but what about other Happy ailments? Here are a few other complaints or conditions that could easily be blamed on eating too much or, more importantly, the "wrong" things:
insomnia or poor quality sleep in general
stiff, achy joints
irritability
anxiety
lack of energy
hair loss
brain fog
dark circles under the eyes
aging skin
and this is just a few!
I've always known that good nutrition was important and it really hit home in the past year. I had over 30 pounds sneak up on me and I hated the way my clothes fit and how I looked. It was harder to exercise and trying to do yoga made me feel particularly bulky and clumsy. I also "just didn't feel all that good". However, once I started taking the weight off, I realized I hadn't been fully aware how many symptoms and discomforts I had been putting up with.
I decided to follow a particular Program that takes good nutrition seriously! I eat delicious, prepared "fuelings" (to "fuel" and power my body) with the proper ratios of proteins, carbohydrates, and probiotic cultures. As a result, I have more sustained energy, I sleep better than ever, I feel lighter, my brain seems to function better, and none of my joints ache! Recently, I decided to go off Plan a little and within a few days I noticed my knees hurt when going downstairs. What a relief to know that all I had to do to remedy that was go back to my healthy eating.
Often, when we don't feel good, we look for a pill or a topical treatment. What if all we had to do was take a more careful look at what we're putting in our bodies, make a few changes, and feel so much better?!? I prefer that over a pharmaceutical solution any day.
