Make Way (for the positive day)

Hello, dear Reader. The end of summer is rapidly approaching. It may be four weeks away officially, but once we get to the final days of August, it doesn't feel like summer any more. Let's soak up the last few weeks and days and get ready to rock the fall!

I'm going to make this nice and short this week. Recently, a line from a 1976 Bob Marley song caught my eye and took hold of me:

"Make way for the positive day,

'Cause it's news"

The first thing I thought of was how delightful a "positive day" sounded. All too often we can get caught up in highlighting issues and problems. I am not immune to it and sometimes I fall into the negativity trap because I think it's what others want to hear and can identify with.  We can easily get conditioned to look for what's wrong and come to expect it. The enchanting other side of that is that we can turn it around and seek all that is good and uplifting. If you hear yourself complaining, see if you can interrupt yourself, take a breath, regroup, and lean into something positive. Make your own news and let it be good.

The other part of this phrase that got me thinking was, "make way". It implies taking action and not waiting around for something that might or might not happen. We don't have to feel like a victim or at the whim of some unseen force of energy if we take charge.

I started writing all this over the weekend and then, put it aside when I got busy with some other stuff. As I returned to finish this post we all got the news about Dolly Parton dying. What a beautiful, full life she led. Based on all we know about her early hardships and the many causes she championed, Dolly definitely believed in making way for the positive day. Let's all strive to champion Dolly's optimism, cheerfulness, and upbeat outlook. Tell someone you will always love them.

Sending Sparkles and Love Your Way!
