How's That Working For YOU?

Dear Friends,

Well, here I am one more time and the third time this week. At first I thought I was going to simply "catch you up" on what I was doing. Then, I realized I had more I wanted to share with you. Ultimately, it turned into a three-part YOU series. After this, you'll continue to hear from me on a regular basis, especially since I really want to hear from YOU and how you're doing. When I post, I always welcome comments and conversations. My first letter got a little long. I appreciate everyone who read it all the way to the end. The next one was more compact and this one I'm hoping will come across as shorter and sweeter. As I was reflecting on what I wanted to say, I kept hearing Dr. Phil in my head. At first I tried to block out his Texas twang and then I realized he was offering me exactly the wisdom I was looking for, stated in a clear, to-the-point way! I have to admit that he's got some simple, yet powerful truisms, like these:

  • "You can't change what you don't acknowledge."

Remember the question from my last letter,

"How YOU doin'?" ? Can you. truthfully answer that? Are you trying to pretend that everything is OK, when it's not?

  • "If you want a different result, you have to choose a different behavior. When you choose your behavior, you choose your consequences."

So maybe you've decided not everything is OK. What are you going to do about it? Remember, you have control over how you treat yourself and how you live your life.

  • "There's tryin' and there's doin'."

Maybe you're at the point where you really want something better. If you adopt the attitude of tryin', you might be underestimating yourself, which leads to ...

  • "If you believe you deserve better, you will create better for yourself."

The best thing you can do is set yourself up for success. Treat yourself like your best friend and go for the gold.

  • "The difference between a dream and a goal is a timeline."

Once you've decided to move forward, it's always good to have some help and a plan. Creating healthy habits is a good team project. If you're struggling yet going through the motions that all is well .... If you're still doing the same thing but expecting different results ... If you've decided to hide behind "it's just not worth it" ... Or, if you've talked yourself into doing it all on your own ... I've got one more from Dr. Phil for you ...

"How's that working for you?!?"

Are you getting what you really want and need? I know I've tried so many things and consistently been disappointed with the results/outcome. It's not as complicated as I thought it had to be -- completely doable and sustainable. I recommend not wasting your precious time and instead, joining me on this journey. Anything, especially losing weight and developing healthy habits, on your own, seems like a daunting task but how much easier would it be to have someone with you every step of the way? We can go on this adventure together! I have some great ideas that might help, but even more than that, I'm craving connection with others during this pandemic. Are you, too? Let's have a chat. Let's talk about what's working and what isn't. Let's brainstorm together. You can start with a text or an email and we can set something up. Maybe two or three of us can get on a conference call or the ubiquitous Zoom. You can contact me at cummingsbarbara@gmail.com. Maya Angelou said, "When we know better, we do better", and I love that quote from her, but I also like tweaking it a bit ... when we feel better, we do better, too. Here's to your best YOU!

Sparkles and Love,
