Naturally Wise

December 18, 2019

Do you feel wise? If not, is it because you think you need to be a certain age? Or, do you think you need to learn some more? What would allow you to feel wise?

It's taken me quite a while to feel like a wise woman. Interestingly, once I decided to take it on, the feeling grew in leaps and bounds. It was as if I finally "owned" my wisdom and realized It had been steadily growing over some time.

As I was getting ready to write this week's blogette, I decided, as I often do, to look up the definition of wise and wisdom. This is what I found in the Google dictionary:

  • Wise - adjective: having or showing experience, knowledge and good judgement; responding sensibly or shrewdly to a particular situation; having knowledge in a specified subject. sage, intelligent, clever, knowledgeable, enlightened, shrewd, knowing, sensible, discerning, perceptive, strategic, sound, sane

  • Wisdom - noun: the quality of having experience, knowledge, and good judgment; the quality of being wise; the soundness of an action or decision with regard to the application of experience, knowledge, and good judgment. intelligence, understanding, insight, prudence, acumen, sharpness, savvy, smarts

Wow! Can you identify with any of those phrases or words? I was amazed to find myself resonating with almost all of them and this accumulation of sageness didn't just happen overnight. Yes, it's been accumulating over time, however I used to think that once I or anyone else became wise, well, they had to be pretty old and near the end of their life. Now as I look at these definitions and synonyms I have a much different perspective of what it means.

I have come to realize that we can be wise from the moment we're born. We have a way of discerning, right from the beginning, what's nurturing and what's not and when we feel a need for something. If you go back and check out what the dictionary says, that discernment means we have wisdom we can access our whole lives yet how many of us trust or even acknowledge that?

Every day our experience grows. As this Monday's Quote stated:

"The beautiful thing about wisdom is that it just keeps

on naturally expanding and deepening ...

if we give it a chance."

I've done a fair amount of traveling, I've had lot of interesting jobs, I've attended several schools and collected a few degrees along the way, and I've been fortunate to have met and made friends with many people along the way. This is part of the reason why I feel like I've earned "wise woman" status. However, I could have done all those things with blinders on. In fact, that's exactly what I did, at least most of the time, in my early years. Even though I was exposed to wonderful experiences, I clung to my point of view for dear life. Fortunately, eventually, I couldn't keep the beauty of wisdom from seeping in and once I let the gate open, once I gave it a chance, I was rewarded with it flowing into me from every angle ... and it's never stopped. This is what I wish for you, an unending current of wisdom from within and without.

My "work" has continually evolved over the years. I'm excited to invite you all to a destination that feels like it has naturally developed over time. Beginning with the next Monday Quote and Thursday blogette in two weeks, I will be welcoming in the new year with a fresh focus. While I will likely continue to "wander lustfully", I feel like "Sparkles and Love" is the heart center from which I operate. I am thrilled and almost intoxicated with the downloads I've been receiving in my morning meditations and I look forward to offering up something a little different.

Sparkles and Love,
